As you can guess what’s next, I took a hit, and it was delicious.įirst, the sweetness hits the tip of my tongue. I’ve admittedly had these buds in my stash jar for a while now (over a month or so) and as I started breaking it up to smoke, I had to exclaim, “Wow, this is still sticky,” as I packed it into my bowl. The smaller-sized buds are still very appealing to the eye, dazzling in a cloak of trichomes with bright orange hairs, or “pistils,” popping out from every angle, though saturated around the tips. It makes me want to dig right in and taste it! As I pour out a few buds from my jar, the light green flowers pop against my red tabletop. Taking a few more deep breaths, I can definitely smell the sweet attributes of pineapple and a tartness of clove and orange zest. Knowing this helps me open my mind and palate to the possibilities of what this beautiful Bubblegum flower has to offer, since her genetic lineage is mostly unknown (though it is known to have originated in the state of Indiana and it is an Indica dominant hybrid cross). Some makers say it’s a mixture of wintergreen, orange, vanilla, some clove oil, some pineapple and coconut or almond. That is, until I did some digging into what makes bubblegum smell the way it does. There’s tartness, sweetness, and one that I can’t exactly put my nose on. The pink bubblegum smell we all recognize and have loved since our childhoods - the smell of the “Big League Chew,” “Bazooka” or “Bubble Tape” bubblegum that is distinguishable upon first whiff - that aroma is where I’ll begin. As soon as I opened my jar and leaned my nose near, all of my senses were immediately sent into a tizzy.
